Well she should be able to use this to get a new meter.

Tell her to explain she has been with them for more than a year showing "loyalty" (which she has)

If they dont budge say she is thinking about moving to a competitor as they say they will do it for her custom. That will make them budge.

I know how you feel I am trying to help my neighbour and she does have a bad credit history and they want a large deposit but I got them to agree as she has been a loyal customer to SG for years.

Play on that. or mention competition.
