my sister has tried to change from change from a prepayment meter to a credit meter, but because she dosen't have a good enough credit score they want to charge her £300 for her gas meter and £200 for her electric meter, seems so unfair as she has low wages and just wants to save some money, the reason her credit score isn't good enough,is because she hasn't had any.is there anyway she could fight this
thanks scott

Those are deposits, not charges. They will be returned (after one year) with interest.0
-
maybe a deposit, but i wouldn't think too many people with prepayment meters would have a £500 deposit too pay.0
-
change your prepayment meter to edf ring them and theyll send you a key and do everything else
after 2 months you can upgrade for free

So how would they pay the bills for a credit meter? If they can't afford the deposit then they are rightly turned away. You've summed up British Gas' good sense yourself.0 -
lets see,the £140 they put into the prepayment meter each month, just leave it in the bank to pay a direct debit, simple i would have thought, not rocket science0

Rubbish. If they do not have the discipline to have £500 spare savings lying around as it is then quite clearly they will not have the discipline to put £140 aside and not touch it. Rocket science not your specialty?0 -
look if you only have useless and sarcastic comments to post, post them in another thread

The supplier is looking for a safe guard thats all and if your sister does not have a "good" credit rating the way they see it is that they are to much of a risk.
Building a better bredit rating can help to aid this.
Who is the supplier and how long has she been with them ?His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

Scottish Gas / British gas ask for someone to be with them for 12 months before they will change the meters free of charge. credit rating has a big factor on this.
this can range in price as well. Scottish gas now sends credit reports to experian so if she pays on time when she gets a credit meter she will build a better credit rating. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0
