Peter Kay and Seetickets.com

By logging on to Peter Kay's website I got a link to purchase tickets at Sheffield Arena at 9am instead of 11am on Friday - the link was to gigsandtours.com.

However, the details I have seem to be via Seetickets.com and although their online tracker states I have tickets in a certain block, it does not give me details of exactly where the tickets are within that block.

I took it that because the site was linked from Peter Kay's website that it would be safe to purchase, although I have never heard of them. Have always used Ticketmaster previously.

Has anyone heard/had experience of seetickets.com?

  • I did the same - I have always used ticket master but was forced to use this site (via a friend who very nicely booked the tickets for me) for sheffield. There is a tracker on http://www.seetickets.com/see/content_tracker.asp I think possibly they don't offer the seats up front like ticketmaster is maybe it clogs the system up on high traffic gigs like this. Fingers crossed!

Seetickets are fine- I used them for Take That in the Summer, the only problem I had was the tickets didn't arrive until the week of the concert so I was a bit nervous about it, but was all fine. Hope that helps

G&T and SEE are the same company and both perfectly fine to use. Have been around for years, and I have used them probably 100+ times with absolutely no problems. TIckets may well not arrive til a week or so before- that is normal. It is partially to reduce touting (Less time to sell them on) and also as it reduces the chance of you losing them.

Oatcake is right about why they don't allocated specific seats- it's to speed it up. It is annoying but it does make the site quicker. Personally I actually prefer to use G&T or SEE over ticketmaster and would always opt to go with them first.

I'm the complete opposite. I'll always go for Ticketmaster (and many other primary ticket sites) over See. I can't understand why anyone would want to use See unless its a last resort.

    Here are my reasons:

    1. Poor website. Crashes or is unstable under load.
    2. Lack of row numbers on high events (only giving block numbers) or many events. They want me to pay £220 per ticket to Bon Jovi in Block A1 when it could be Row A or Row Z. Sorry, I'll go elsewhere.
    3. Slower in delivery of tickets that other primary outlets.

Ticketmaster has none of these problems

Many thanks to those who have responded - it is good to get your feedback, as it does reassure me. Having used Ticketmaster on about three occasions I have not had the tickets until the week prior to the event - but they have always arrived no problem.

I do find it somewhat annoying though that See have not given me any idea of where within the block we are going to be, but I guess I am just going to have to live with that. I can see that this could be a disadvantage to those who grab as many tickets as they possibly can and then sell them for huge profits.

To jamespir, my understanding was that by about 1pm on the initial day of sale the site was stating that all tickets were sold for about 37 out of the 40 dates, and that did not include the Manchester 18 or 20 dates for which there was also a huge clammer for tickets.

The uptake has been unbelieveable, such is the popularity of Peter Kay.

I wouldnt touch See with a barge pole - we got badly ripped off by them with tickets to the Capital Summer Ball and I know that Notts Trading Standards have investigated them already and the file is ongoing apparantly. BE CAREFUL!

  • I feel very very sorry for anyone who has purchased tickets from Seetickets. Their customer service is non-existent. They are such a terrible company that words fail me. Here is what will happen:

If you have bought unallocated seats (and I hope you haven't) you may find that once your seats have been allocated they are rubbish seats. If this is the case just complain very very loudly and just make a big nuisance of yourself. They will throw their terms and conditions at you but so what.

See has a bad habit of not actually sending tickets out. They didn't send tickets out for Take That this year. They won't contact you at all to keep you up to speed. They will simply not send the tickets out, force you to call them on a premium line number, keep you hanging on for ages and ages, cut you off a few times, then tell you that you can collect your tickets from the box office instead. Oh, and by the way, they will keep the postage cost.

This is how they operate. Google them and see for yourself.
  • Oh - one more thing about See - I appreciate above that some posters have said that they have used them without any problems in the past BUT they have gone downhill rapidly since being sold. They were always slow to dispatch but these days they don't bother. Avoid like the plague.

I cannot post a link at the moment because I am at work but Google this phrase:
