  • if you are paying £100 a week for a nursery where they have to acommodate a lot of children and cannot make allowances for individuals why don't you use a childminder instead ?

The fact that YOUR child needs to be woken up after 10 minutes and other children do not, means that he is disrupting the way the nursery is run. To wake him up, they may have to disturb other children and get fleas in their ears from the other parents complaining that their children do not get adequate sleep while in their care. You say your child needs 10 mins, another parent wants 15 mins some may want 20 mins and so on....do you see where this leads ?

I don't mean to critisize (can't spell that word, sorry) your way of parenting, but if you have very specific requests of how your child should be brought up, then a nursery is not the right place for you. You need a childminder or a nanny. A nursery is an institution (even though a nice looking and friendly one), not a place for individual child care.
  • Hi Anthillmob,

I can see how you have managed to solve your problem with your little one not going to sleep at night by reducing the amount of sleep during the day, but I think that at "not quite two years old" this doesn't sound right and he should still be having that nap. So I suspect his unsettled behaviour at night, might not be because of the day sleep after all?

Is it possible to have a little chat with your health visitor? She might be able to help you solve this.

As for the Nursary not doing as you wish, I can understand why you would be annoyed, but Nursary is a lively place and little ones will flag in the afternoon, and really they would be considering the needs of the child, which if you think about it, is a good thing.

What I am trying to say is it might be worthwhile separating the two problems, and look at what can be done to solve the bedtime thing by itself.

cheers. however, i dont allow my kids to enter my bed at any time. that reslly sounds mean to some but i dont allow it. im quite strict like that but no so much in other ways.

Put him on an air bed then, in your room, with a stair gate on. This problem may need a little lateral thinking to solve.

    Oh dear.

My LO had her trail day...and managed to get a piece of lametta (sp) in her mouth. Had to go to A+E to get it out! Very traumatic and so simple...but on the first day! Haha!
