As a long term ME person I do not want to say how long or that will depress you, can I say that it is very important that in the early stages you treat yourself with kindness, take LOTS of rest, a healthy diet, look at your diet for possible food sensitivities that make you tired or upset your gut, that was an important part of my control over my illness. If you do not rest now then it is more likely that it will become chronic. I feel that if I had not been told for the first 6 years of my illness that there was nothing wrong with me to get a life I would not be in this place now.Vit D3 is also quite important a supplement to take especially during the winter months. There is also a supplement called Corvalen which supports muscle that might be worth looking at

There seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel appearing with some exciting research on the MXRV virus see www.meresearch.org.uk . You can rely on Neil Abbot at Meresearch to give you a down to earth view on current research and as they have chosen to fund further research in Sweden on the back of the US findings they must be quite excited.
I know that does not help you just now but I want you to know that things are maybe looking up

    look after yourself

I'm no expert... but I'm pretty sure that's not allowed. Good luck with CAB tomorrow! x

I'm so sorry to hear that Katie. 12 days doesn't sound that much to me at all - I read someone the other day saying they'd had 30 days off, and still had the job. I hope CAB are helpful.

Katie, I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't think they can sack you if you have a sicknote from your doctor, and you are right to go to CAB. I'm sure you are feeling upset but try not to worry, hope it goes ok with CAB tomorrow.

    Hiya Katie,

I have ME and have had it for 7 years but it wasn't diagnosed for 5 years as it went worse and then they refferred me to neurologist for tests to rule out MS and voila ME.

I have a 7 year old boy and work part time sometimes....i have just finished a 3 month 14 hour a week job as i couldn't do it mentally or physically and they signed me back on sick straight away....i thought i would be penalised as i resigned but i had to because i couldn't do the job properly..so there was no point going on the sick with them.

My doctor is sort of understanding but pushes me a bit to get off sick which i'm not sure he should...its like i have to beg for sick notes 1 month at a time.

I know people say pace and take time out but with kids and you have a sick hubbie...its nigh impossible! sending some virtual hugs (((Kate)))

The neck and back pain i get as well and worse when i've over done it...which is like everyday lol...i just use heat rub as it gets right in there and does help and hot bath put my neck under.

Also a good site for brill info about illness and benefits etc for ME peeps is http://www.foggyfriends.org

Wishing you strength to get through this :)

PS. if i've repeated anything anyone else has said sorry but just cannot read all the posts brain will not take it :D
