It's really, really annoying - but pretty much only a driving licence or passport will work. I had the same problem when I turned 18. I couldn't afford either of the above, and I used my college card for awhile, until the tightened up policies. My friend bought a Proof of Age card, issued by the police - but no where accepted it!!
I even took my birth certificate once, and they refused me entry.
In the end I started to learn to drive at 19, so finally had my provisional licence.OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

birth certificates are so easily forged that they are probably less reliable than the person claiming they're old enough, at least you could look for signs of lying when they say it face to face.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
To add to that...4743hudsonj wrote: »birth certificates are so easily forged that they are probably less reliable than the person claiming they're old enough, at least you could look for signs of lying when they say it face to face.
Anyone can legitimately buy a legal copy of anyone else's birth certificate if they so wish.
So obviously cannot be used for proof of identity.0 -
Pubs and Clubs pretty much only accept Driving Licences or Passports.
Supermarkets also accept Pass hologram cards.0 -
You could also apply for a citizen card from

So would clubs accept citizen cards or would they still refuse?0

Refuse
Tell them to apply for a provisional driving licence. Whether they intend to learn or not they still get a valid form of ID for clubs etc. It may not be so good for other things though as some banks etc don't like provisionals.
Will cost £50. Other option is to get a passport.
Only a driving licence or passport will work though.0 -
So they still refuse the citizen cards:mad::mad:Anihilator wrote: »Refuse

They could refuse passports and driving licenses too if they wanted, but it wouldnt make good business sense to. It is at the discretion of the club whether they accept the ID or not.0 -
Just get a drivers licence, it costs £50 and it will last for some time0
