I use Firefox, will this make a difference? I carried out the procedures above on my IE browser.

I was on this PC again last night, its running even slower than normal - is there anything else I can do?

Please open malwarebytes, goto LOGS and post the WHOLE of the log

    Download CCLEANER
    http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim
Run the CLEANER scan (UNTICK 'cookies')
Then run the REGISTRY scan (Backup the registry when it asks)

    reboot

    Download GLARY UTILITIES
    http://www.glaryutilities.com/download/gusetup_slim.exe
    Run the ONE CLICK scan
Goto MODULES / SYSTEM TOOLS / WINDOWS STANDARD TOOLS / then run SYSTEM FILE CHECKER

Use this AVG removal tool (Maybe you tried the 32bit and you have a 64 bit or vice versa?)
    http://www.kaspersky.com/support/downloads/products2009/avg8.zip

Id recommend uninstalling the MSN toolbar and especially the YAHOO toolbar (Yahoo slows computers down)

If you wish to have a search facility I would recommend the GOOGLE toolbar

Hi I no longer have a p.c. I now have a Mac but when I did have one I used pcpitstop, which is free it analyses your computer and afterwards it shows you flags, a chequered flag means that part of the test is good a red flag means sort it out straight away, and a yellow flag means it need sorting but there is no rush, and the best part is it tells you how to correct any faults it may find in an easy to understand way. I highly recommend this, and dont be alarmed while running the test you will see on your screen flashing images circles etc, and if you enter your email address you will be able to keep a log of your previous tests, and its free. http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/

Toolbars have now been removed and all tasks in post 13 have been carried out buy my PC is not running any quicker and the browser window still seems to take between 4-5 minutes to open.

shaz - run HJT again and post the new log....let's see what's going on. Also, open task manager (ctrl-alt-delete together), look at the processes tab and see what processes are hogging the CPU when you open your browser...might have to look at running Combofix next, and trying the browser without any add-ons running...
