PC Running Slowly

When I am online my PC frequently runs slowly - It usually takes 3-4 minutes for the browser page to open at the beginning and some clips on youtube run rather slowly.

I also get some pop-ups appearing even though I have pop up blocker selected on the browser.

Is there anything I can do? I have defragmened the system as well as running Spybot.

You coudl try doing a full san with malwarebytes to see if there are any nasties on your machine.

Also try running ccleaner to clean out all of your temporary fiels etc. and tidy up your registry
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Press ALT+CTL+DEL and look at the processes running in your task manager. Look for any suspicious files eating up huge chunks of resources (memory/processor).
If there is an .exe file taking up unusual amounts of resources then you may have a virus/trojan.
Download software called 'hijack this' that will create a report on the state of your computer. You can then post this report on most tech forums such as majorgeeks.com and someone will asses the report and let you know any course of action needed.

Tick and fix these in HJT:-

Might also be an idea to run the avg removal tool to ensure all remaining bits are off there...
    http://www.avg.com/gb-en/download-tools

if it still misbehaves after this, be prepared to run combofix
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

once you're clean, you need to update XP to service pack 3 :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Thanks allot for your help.

I fixed the items on HJT and below is the updated log file, I tried to use your AVG remover program, however it will not work once it has been downloaded.

Finally how do I update my X3 Service pack?

I had problems with web pages taking ages to open. I went though all internet explorers add ons until I found which one it was.
    Open internet explorer.
Click on tools. This is on the top right. If you don’t see tools. Right click on a free space and put a tick next to command bar.
    Click internet options
    Click on the programs tab
    Click manage add ons.
Find java tm plug-in 2 ssv helper
Right click on it and disable it. It’s not needed. It should have been removed but java have not yet got round to doing it.

I should have read this before. But there you go. That is the problem. You need to disable it by following the steps I put in the post above.

I use Firefox, will this make a difference? I carried out the procedures above on my IE browser.
