house buying unfortunately isn't for everyone, it's only for those that can afford it ... unfortunate but that's the way it is
FTB's don't buy an average house (whatever that is) anyway
Who said they did? I was just pointing out that the report seems to suggest that FTB's declared salary is far in excess of average wage.0 -

Now it's both incomes.
In the future, you will need to have a threesome to buy a house.0 -

i'd say shared ownership if they can't buy a flat outright.
if that's not an option it has to be renting and saving up a bigger deposit if buying property is what they want to do.0 -

Some single people may buy flats.
Some may rent. I don't see a posters view makes much difference to the figures.0 -

Dam wish I would have waited.

Anyway these stats only cover the period up to the end of 2008.
So have 9 months of pre financial crash activity included in them. Self cert income etc.
With the tightening of criteria for obtaining a mortgage during 2009. Be interesting to see how the "new" mortgage market will impact the stats in next years report.0 -

Sudo please stop typing Chucky... "okay"
On a serious note, glad that it appears you think self certified mortgages, aren't a great idea (or maybe I took your comments in the wrong context?).
self certs are good for people who are doing it legally - i.e. self employed etc... they have obviously been abused. i'd say the uncertified income issue was more of a problem than self certs.
as for you replying to Abaxas post are you sure the Unix Man is not being creative and you are real and not one of his bots0 -
