    Complete waste of time.
When enough people are prepared to 'Waste' their time things can be done. I guess Martin Lewis trying to save all consumers money and fight for their rights is a waste of time!! Of course not.
I have to laugh though RBS board are threatening to quit over the £1.5Billion bonus pot if it isn't paid out but they won't refund £35 charges...Greedy F%&^£$s

But EDM's will do absolutely NOTHING. It is a tool in Parliament used to highlight issues and not set law. For example, I mentioned Mohammad Sarwar's bill on Excessive Charges....he abandoned it when it came before Parliament again in November. I commend Vince Cable for trying but EDM's are very rarely passed into law and it is unlikely to get any further prior to a general election next year, so, to repeat what Simon has said, "a complete waste of time".

  • It is easy for politicians to jump on a bandwagon especially when they will never ever be in power to see it through. It is a cynical attempt to garner a few more votes.

As admirable as Cable's EDM may be, the likely effect it will have can be shown by the fact that a total of 368 Early Day Motions have been tabled between 11th November and 3rd December.

Can anybody out there explain to me why I was sent a list of changes to bank charges by RBS. They have been hugely reduced. The decision to do this MUST have been taken prior to the supreme court judgement. I do not suppose it was an act of kindness!

I'm not sure why they were sent after the fact ie after they were announced in September almost 2 months before the Supreme Court announced its decision. The two events are unconnected.

Been reading what these EDM's actually mean...

Like many people have commented, they mean jack!!!!! to be honest (excuse my French)

It's good that Vince Cable has put it forward, but it's not likely to achieve anything unfortunately :(

It is highlighting the issue , credit card charges were reduced and refunds given . So anything that keeps the issue up there in the spotlight is good .

The credit card thing was to do with a complaint raised by Which? Furthermore, credit card charges did not go before the courts which means the £12.00 limit isn't worth the paper it is written on since it is reclaimable still.
