The radio code comes into it because when you disconnect the battery you are disconnecting the live feed to the radio as well ,if its a radio that has a security code built in you will need to enter that code once the new battery is fitted
But has been mentioned there is ways round that or yours might have a battery back up built in ?
Surely there must be someone near you on here that could do it for you ?

    where abouts are you ?
    Have a nice day :)

    Yeah ok,

But my first course of action would be to charge the battery and then check the alternator is working. If the battery doesn't hold charge after being charged in the house, and the alternator is still working THEN I would change the battery not before.
  • cheers Wig. I have got a battery and alternator in case, but i will get the RAC dude to charge it first x

Make sure doors are open or windows down and/or keys out of the ignition. It is embarassing when the new battery is connected and keys are in the ignitiona and all the doors lock......:)

It's a security measure. Thefts of radios from cars are very common, and having a code is a way of making it so that if the radio is removed from the car, hence it doesn't have any power to it, you have to put a code in to make it work again.

Thus denying thieves a market for their stolen goods as stolen radios will not work.

Many manufacturers have now gone down the route of having radios which physically cannot be removed from the car to combat this problem.

    radio code?!

think I will call the RAC man out....

You MIGHT not need it, my Vauxhall radio keeps its code for at least 10 minutes with the battery disconnected.
