Please help! I have a USB Memory Stick problem!

Hi there, i have a USB Memory stick problem. My USB Mmeory stick is a New Linkxx Ultra HI-SPEED 512 MB -2.0. I have only had it for about a month. It has been working perfectly uptil now. Whenever I plugged it into my computer the light on the USB stick used to flash, now when i plug it in it does not flash.
I had saved quite a lot of files on there which i cannot access now. When I plug it into the computer the computer recognises it. When I go into My Computer and double-click on "removable disk -disk drive D" i get this error message- "Please insert disk into drive D" . I have never had this problem before and Im not sure whether it is broken. I do have a write-protected slide button on the side of the memory stick but ive made sure it is off. please please please can someone help me

Thank you :(

I would try it on another PC but I suspect the thing has developed a fault and the files are lost

Wiggle the button, see if that helps.

Either that right click and format NOTE, Format will erase all info.

I was going to say to re-install the drivers if you got any with it, but if it's not working on any other PCs it does sound like it's gone.

Never just keep files on a USB stick if you can help it - always leave a copy on a PC/laptop. I definitely wouldn't trust one to store important files on.

There are data recovery firms that specialise in getting data back but these can be expensive so I wouldn't bother unless the files are REALLY important.

lol yeh i tried but no luck, i mean if the computer registers it why won't it let me look at what ive saved on it, and it appears in my computer, i ddnt get any software with it but does anyone know how i could change the drive from D to any other drive?

Changing drive letters wont affect anything,

I expect the drive is being read but the info on the drive is not being read, they do have a habit of going wrong thats why CD backup is also a good idea aswell.
