Still thinking about having a cigarette. I know its not going to be easy.
Projected saving for this week is approx £15.woowee
The heavies amongst you can work out, I was only a social smoker with the weekend binges
I'll treat my self to 2 large bottles of v. nice wine( from one addiction to another) Infact I'm saving money on the booze as well. Too weak willed to go on a bender, as i might just light up
So far bought skipping rope
Been to gym
Caught cold >:(0 -
I gave up at new year too :-/ I have put my money in a jar each day and tomorrow I will have £52! Then I'm off to hit the shops and treat myself!
I was planning on saving for a couple of months but after speaking to the smoking cessation nurse she recommended spending it this week as a reward for all the cravings and hard work I've done in the past week

Give yourselves a big pat on the back..that is brilliant to have been off them for so long! It does, eventually, get easier.... as I mentioned before I gave up - used to be a 20 a day person for 15 years....one day I realised I hadn't thought about having a cig that day at all... Your cravings will pass, just keep not giving into them and they will become fewer and further and further apart.
Happy shopping, treat yourselves to something extravagant, you both deserve it and you can both afford it.

My Mum and Dad gave up smoking some years ago, but continued to put the money they would have spent away. Since then they've bought loads of new furniture, and this year have saved enough to go to Las Vegas for their Golden Wedding!
It can be done, good luck to you.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Try https://www.givingupsmoking.co.uk
The site outlines loads of good tips.
You can try the money saved calculator.
You can set up a motivator email that arrives daily and tells you how your health has improved for each day of quitting etc.
You can contact a local group.
I've been quit for four days and it's been pretty useful0 -
Well done donlevy
My other half has been nicotene free for ummm.... about 3 weeks ish..
He tried the nicotene inhalators and HATED THEM (£19 per pack!!!) !!! He has found that Vicks and Olbas oil nasal inhalershave worked a treat. He fiddles with them all the time and always seems to have one up his nose
Oh.... and he's eaten a massive selection of toffees, lollies and sweeties!!! He's not normally a sweet toothed person but WOW... has he changed!Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
highly recommend spending one pack of cigs money on a book called The Nicotine Trick and another pack of cigs money on Alan Carr - Easyway To Stop Smoking. I read Alan Carrs first to pack them in, and have nearly finished The Nictotine Trick. Both are quality investments. Some eye opening stuff in both (especially the Nicotine Trick) and they save you spending a shed load of cash on patches, inhalers etc. I'm into a month without the cigs now. Have already started to morph into one of "those" ex smokers!! They are the worst I can promise you! ;-)0

You just beat me to it!!!!
Gave it up on Jan 10th using Alan Carr's EasyWay and it's so much easier than you could ever believe.
Anyone struggling just get this book and your other half will will thank you foreverI am not young enough to know everything.

Don't just think about the money saved - think of your health , remember that your teeth will be cleaner, your breath fresher, etc. you will also have more time in the day to do real stuff !(How much time did I waste going for a fag break ?).
I too gave up the Alan Carr Way - that little book - although annoying tells you a few home truths and seems to work for many people. After so many failed attempts I succeeded - and you know what - after reading that book - it was easy !
Good luck to all new ex-smokers !To infinity and beyond!0 -
Have you thought of monopoly or "play" money put into a clear jar every day so you can see it mounting up?
Even if you spend money on a treat leave play money in and then you can see how much better off you are."This site is addictive!"
