Paperwork after completion. Need help!

Hi,

we completed more than a month ago and happily living in our new house. Yesterday we received from our solicitor a copy of Land registry with our names on it and confirmation of mortgage to HSBC (the usual stuff). But apart from that we dont have any paperwork in our hands! There are supposed to be 2 indemnity insurances (which seller was paying for) and we dont even have a copy of that. In case of any problems I dont even know which company we are insured with, no Insurance No ,etc..Can anyone please advise me what type of documents we should have with us and should it be copies of original docs?

  • I have all of my documents, including an indemnity insurance, from my house purchase in August. I would assume you should have them as the property is now your responsibility but maybe different solicitors work in different ways. Someone with better knowledge may be along soon...

    Who arranged your insurance? mortgage? etc.

    Mortgage with HSBC.
    For now we have only building insurance in our hands because we arranged it ourselves. But there should be 2 indemnity insurances which seller paid for and I have no idea which company it is with
  • You solicitor will have a copy of these, ask them for a copy.

    just spoke to him. He told he is still chasing sellers solicitor about indemnity insurances. He said nothing about other documents..

    You are paying/have paid a professional to act on your behalf. Why are you not simply chasing your solicitor for whatever documents you are expecting?

    The problem is that I dont know whichdocuments I should have. I am the FTB. I axpected I will have something like a purchase contract at least..
  • If you ask your solicitor I expect he will send you the contract but I am not sure what real benefit it will be to you now that you own the property.
