How to go wireless? Please help?

My wireless BT broadband hub went faulty and as I was desperate to get back on line I was 'persuaded' to re-contract with BT so they could send me a new hub which arrived today.

However, I lack the knowledge to get it to work wirelessly (is that a word?). I'm currently connected by wire which is messy. Can someone please explain in VERY simple terms how I now become wireless?

My earlier attempts at wireless today stalled when I had to find a ?'connectivity'? program to let Microsoft XP help in the process? I couldn't find it and was baffled by some very complicated gobbledegook that appeared, far beyond me.

Sorry if this has been said elsewhere, but I found when I had the first home hub the better way is not to use the BT software (which is infested with things you dont want) but to use the Windows wizard. All you need to do is put in the password for the Hub (on the back of the hub) and you should be ready to go.

Though there are many critical things said about the Home Hub and BT I have found it to be very reliable and easy to use and the back up is good as well.

Thank you all for reading this thread.

I have managed to connect the hub to my desktop PC with wires but still need to explore connecting wirelessly. My previous hub was wireless but the new set up can't seem to find what it needs in my pc to connect wirelessly! My laptop has connected fine. Maybe I need to try & reinstall the Com3 program disc?

Is your PC actually wireless equipped? You will need either a USB wireless adapter or a PCI wireless card installed. Most PC's do not come with wireless as standard. All modern laptops do.
The Hub is working fine, as otherwise you would not be able to connect with your laptop.

Macman - Thank you yes it is, because the hub that broke was connected wirelessly to the desk top.

I have a '3 Com' gizzmo plugged into the back it's like a flash drive that I believe is right. Do you think maybe I should find & reinstall the disc that came with it?

Sounds like your 'gizmo' is a USB wireless adapter. Model no. might help?
Look in Device Manager (my Computer>Right Click>Properties>Hardware) to see if the adapter is recognised and working correctly. If not then reinstall the drivers.
