Samsung TV Fault

I know lots of people are experiencing a fault with the Samsung lcd televisions. I bough mine on 19th November 2007 and it will now not turn on. The red power buttton is continuously flashing and clicking but no picture or sound at all. I bought from currys and didnt take out the extended warranty. What is best way forward. Has anyone been lucky in getting anywhere with similar fault without extended warranty.
