New to broadband and frustrated

I have got bt yahoo broadband since Monday and I am already frustrated, keeping being switched off and cannot access the pages. sometimes in the middle of a bill payment. Am I the only with this problem? Other time it works fine. Thanks

if you're on the adsl max product range (which im guessing you are), then you'll experience an intermittant service for the first 10 days as it finds the top speed your line can handle & then go stable

Thanks, that's what it says on the instructions but it is driving me crazy as sometimes I am in the middle of buying something online and cannot complete the sale. I guess, I need not worry whether the router has been connected properly. I have tried broadband help desk and it is more confusing than help. Thanks

Hi Loulou,

NormanMark is correct, on the first 10 days of an ADSL MAX (also noted as 'speeds up to 8Mb') connection you may experience intermittent disconnections.

You should also check that you have a microfilter fitted into every phone socket that is in use in your house? Remember to include phone sockets that are being used for Sky TV boxes and Fax machines.

If you don't have all phone sockets that are in use fitted with a microfilter or you have a faulty microfilter in the mix than you may get frequent disconnections.
