  • Well done! That's excellent news and a great place to start.
Cutting down on your work hours seems a wise decision- with so much going on you must be exhasuted and that is a sure way of losing touch with yourself.

You need to time to refuel and regenerate- and a drink will not do that for you. We are just humans and we need what we neeed- it is not healthy to work at that pitch for prolonger periods of time. So yeah, I wholeheartedly support you!! Keep up the good work:T

Great news, youve taken the first step and if you are serious about continuing i would suggest you need daily backup like AA for instance, else you could easily slip back.People in AA know how you feel and will help you through the really tough times, they can be your emotional crutch rather than the bottle.

How is this helpful to the OP? Way to shoot someone down!
Were you in the original thread?
My post to the OP was about her understanding alcoholism and was answering some questions that were asked on the other thread. It was an extention of that.
If you don't know anything about alcoholism then you wouldn't know that my post to an alcoholic would be helpful.
  • Glad you're feeling a bit better..
I've just stopped smoking & like you, even though I don't crave a cig, its hard to break the actual habit/ times I would usually have one..

I've found making sure Im not around them helps (so don't have any bottles of wine in the house 'just in case' etc..

Anyway, WELL DONE!! :T think there's a 'giving up alcohol thread' in DFW board..I've been joining in on the stop smoking one, & it's really helpful!

    Keep staying strong..x
  • I have just applied for a new job:eek: But as I am 99% sure I won't get it, I'll keep schtum for now:cool:

    Well done sweetheart.
Could you make a plan of how to make your life all the better, set yourself a goal for a holiday or further education?
Sorry if this sounds a bit patronising but I don't know your history?

Keep busy and do loads of exercises, the endorphins you get from that will help you through the bad bits if you get any.
The more you exercise the stronger you'll feel....
