nice one hun sending you a big hug xxxxx
  • Skint...only you know how you feel and at what point you are in life so maybe you don't think much of what I have to say.
To make your self go x amount of nights without alcohol means nothing. You could go 2 months, 3 months or more with no alcohol but that doesn't mean you are not alcoholic.
What you are actually doing is giving yourself a little test. "If I can go x amount of time without alcohol then I can't possibly be an alcoholic then, can I?" and you will then go on to congratulate yourself with a drink or two.
Someone who isn't alchoholic doesn't ever think about a drink. They don't think about when they last had one or when they can have another one. It just doesn't figure into their thinking at all. See what I mean?
There isn't any test for yourself. You just need to keep going with keeping yuor life interesting, fulfilled and happy..as best as you can.

I'm not testing myself, I have no targets. Just seeing how it goes.

I would see 3 days better than 1 or 2 so it is an achievement, :T:T:T:T it's also a good start. Giving it time Skint maybe won't think about it.

Congratulations Skinty, 3 days is an achievement. Hopefully your feeling great this morning as a result!
  • Oooh, an unusual break today so thought I'd pop on.

Yes, I feel great thanks! NOt a big 'high' or a buzz or anything like that - physically I am too shattered - but positive.

Heading into the weekend will be hard, I have no plans bar the few hours work I do over the weekend. I think I am going to try and have a clearout, get some stuff along to a charity shop etc.

Good for you! I got a bit of a buzz at first from the sense of empowerment from stopping the booze, which lasted a while. Beware of complacency, and definitely beware of feeling like having a drink to reward yourself for not drinking! As a hard worker, I'm quite sure that your not getting puking drunk every night, but all the same, it's causing you grief so you're onto a good thing trying to do without.

On a serious note, you might find yourself being a bit emotional after some time of not drinking. For many, alcohol 'postpones' thinking about problems.

    Keep up the good work,
    Skip dipper and proud....
