No - it is a full bank account and they credit check you because the facility is there to get into borrowing, whether you use or not is another matter but the facility is there. On a basic account, it is not there and never available thus they need authorisation before you can make a purchase. With a full account if the system is down the payment will still be authorised even if it makes you overdrawn.

Put it this way, if you're skint and have a fiver in your account, and go to a pay at pump, you can fill up with £60 so that could make you £55 overdrawn.

    see what i'm saying?:D
But the facility to go overdrawn is only activated when you apply and are then credit checked? I've got a full account with A&L, I assumed I got it because I have no overdraft. If it's being credit scored then I'm shocked I got it! And won't be getting the Halifax one!

Haha, as for the pay at pump thing (better tell my mate about that :p), that's offline authorisation like on planes then? I swear I used my solo card on a plane though (it was either that or my credit card, can't remember which but think it was the solo), the Natwest one was the Adapt one
Call them now mate - they already know the decision! ;)

    so do I.... lol

sorry mate, you want to know?
Haha, don't worry I can guess for myself.....decline!! If it's full credit scored then no way they'll accepted me. They declined me for the Student one a few months back (but that came out as an outright decline, this has showed up on online banking ) but I thought that was credit scored because of the interest free overdraft - now this is credit scored there is no way they'll be accepting me!

Zack, no I explained how the facility to go overdrawn is there. Also, you can write a cheque.

You never could use solo on planes, never! Planes only take credit cards or visa/maestro.
    :o 2010 - year of the troll :o

Ah, will be interesting to see the decision, I assume it's decline though knowing this. I've just got back (shopping on lovely credit cards :p) and checked, it still can't find my record

Haha, it must have been my credit card then :) I can't remember because all my PINs are the same so I just grab any of the cards if I know I'm under the limits for the lot of them!
