Halifax Current A/C decision?

I think something is wrong with experian.... I just checked my credit report (first time I checked in more than a year), and it shows I have 0 credit account.....
Is it possible that experian does not update my address which I have moved into for the last 1.5 years? since its quite impossible to have 0 credit account with 2 current accounts, 3 credit cards, 1 mortgage, 2 car loans etc.....
Also, they have me not registered on the electoral roll which I am. And the length of stay in current address was 2.5 years instead of 1.... Do I need to always update experian when I moved house?0 -
I applied for the one that gives you £5 if you pay in 1k, it's listed in my online banking (I have access to online banking because I have another account, a kids account I think, with debit card etc) with a sort code and account number. When I click Application Decision it says it might not be able to match my record etc. So I setup a transfer to the account number and sort code it's listed, and it lists the receiving name as me, but when I submit a transfer it won't go through, so not sure if it's a decline or not. I'm sure it said it accepted me....
I didn't apply for the overdraft or the cheque book so don’t really see why they would need to credit check anyway, it’s essentially only a basic account0 -

But why would I need a CREDIT check for a visa DEBIT card…I can't spend money I don't have on a debit card, don't want an overdraft and haven't requested a cheque book so can't write cheques with money I don't have...so I won't be able to get credit from the accountopinions4u wrote: »Probably something to do with issuing a Visa debit card on the account.

Natwest gave me 2 solo debit cards when I was 13, they wouldn't have done a credit check, aren't all debit cards are the same thing
I have a Visa with Halifax already (electron I think, I don't know I hardly use it) don’t think they did a check on me then0 -

Not all debit cards are created equal. Some rely on checking whether you have a sufficient account balance for each transaction (online debit cards), some don't (offline debit cards), so you could spend money you don't actually have.0 -
Thanks, so electron is an online one then? No wonder it's not accepted at loads of places but solo is, but then my solo was given out at 11+ (don't know if that's still the case), surely that should be online too and should check the balance for each transaction? Halifax better not decline me, if I get the account I don't even want to use the card! Not all debit cards are created equal. So at the moment I could be accepted or declined but won’t know until I get a letter (or something in online banking changes?)0 -
Zack, the decision will be updated later. Though for you to say it doesn't match suggests that you have a linked address on your credit file - they cannot match your application to your existing account, i.e. have you moved and not told them the change on your existing account?
But you can ring them and they will tell you, quickest way to do it.

I don't think I have linked it, unless I accidently put the uni address on something and so the CRAs are using that or somethingnever-in-doubt wrote: »Zack, the decision will be updated later. I try to make all my applications and stuff go to where I was living a few months ago though
Just signing back in to get the exact wording of it. It is:
Customer details not available
Sorry, we are unable to display the relevant information. Sometimes when customers open a new account we are unable to match this to your customer record. Please call the Online Helpdesk on 0845 602 0000 or try again later. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
So I'll call them tomorrow if it still hasn't updated

No - it is a full bank account and they credit check you because the facility is there to get into borrowing, whether you use or not is another matter but the facility is there. On a basic account, it is not there and never available thus they need authorisation before you can make a purchase. With a full account if the system is down the payment will still be authorised even if it makes you overdrawn.
Put it this way, if you're skint and have a fiver in your account, and go to a pay at pump, you can fill up with £60 so that could make you £55 overdrawn.
see what i'm saying?:D
