NPB strike still means buyer can't leave feedback?

Options
Just checking - is it still the case that giving a buyer a NPB strike means they can't leave feedback for the seller? I thought that this was the case, but after checking on eBay "help" pages I seem to be finding contradictory stuff. Thanks.

  • Yep- there is a new icon now and everything. Looks kind of like -- and if you hover over it it says: Dispute process has blocked the buyer fom leaving feedback
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

Hmmm, I am only seeing "Dispute process has blocked the buyer from making payment". There are no -- across the feedback section at all - in fact it says "feedback not received" as though it could be received.

Should I be nervous I wonder?

Already had the nasty email from buyer (the one who has said "I'm going to pay on the... twice now and given me a sob story about how their partner was unexpectedly taken ill etc.) and they are appealing the strike?

  • I was left negative feedback recently after a NPB was closed, not been able to get it removed since either, so despite everything saying it can't happen, it can.
And before anyone says it must be because the buyer responded, there is no way for the buyer to respond now other than for them to pay, which mine did'nt, ironically, I noticed she had responded to negative feedback left for her by a buyer saying "How can a NPB leave a negative after strike is closed. Unfair" a few days previous to our transaction, so it looks like I was her "revenge".
Ebay just keep telling me its now allowed as they want a more open and honest feedback without fear of retraction, and also that they are removing less feedback now for the same reason, and keep asking me to speak directly to the buyer to ask her to remove it. *sigh*
Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive :D

    ...... okay, now you've confused me. :o

Is it a PS perk or something then?
Because we've got one and they definitely can't leave feedback.

Maybe they "responded" to ebay and not you, and that.... unlocked them somehow (like Strapped's buyer appealing).

It with stuff like this that ebay is such a pain- these are things we need to know, and they make it impossible to figure out a definitive answer.

There is one loophole that might explain it, the moment a seller leaves feedback for a buyer, even a negative comment with a positive rating the NPB is reversed and the FVFs lost and the buyer gets the right to leave feedback.

I have'nt left any feedback for my (non) buyer, I did wonder if it was because of how quickly she left it after the NPB strike was issued (around 20 minutes after) but seems unlikely I think now, plus every time I've asked ebay the direct question they don't seem to give a straight answer either on the phone or by email, but just go on about how the feedback system had very recently changed to allow a more personal experience type feedback for each trading partner whether good or bad. They did tell me to respond to the feedback to allow other people to see that she had'nt paid, but that seems pointless.
It actually says on my sold page something like strike given final value fees returned next to the item, I was thinking of taking a screen grab uploading to imageshack and posting the link as my reply to the feedback, but theres probably something hidden in the rules somewhere about doing that no doubt.

I haven't left feedback for my buyer. I've messaged eBay though (and will ring them Mon am) because the unpaid item case now says "FVF not credited" so I am  because I assume that this total time-waster managed to get the NPB strike removed on appeal. (HOW I don't know - this person kept saying she was going to pay...but then something happened...so it would have to be next pay day (you know, the usual "curse of eBay", partner got sick, hospital bills, but she's a great God-fearing Christian who will pray for me because I can't forgive her mistake blah blah blah) I think I'm going to stop selling to Americans. No offence to any reading this, but they seem to be the worst customers.

Well, eBay have now refunded my FVF, and have sent me a link "if I want to register a strike against the buyer". TBH I've lost the will to live over this now, so I'm just going to leave well alone - she deserves a strike but that would probably prod her into leaving negative feedback so we'll call it quits. Probably the wrong thing to do but I am defeated!
