How accurate is your British Gas energy smart meter?

Mine is like that as well, seems to read high. I just use it as a guide to see what is left switched on and to tell me when the kettle has boiled:D
The monitor sits next to the computer:D

I'd estimate mine reads 15 -20% high. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I queried mine as it appeared to be reading c.40-50% low at one point. I was told that the tolerance is +/-10%. Now seems pretty accurate BTW although i am often baffled at quite high readings when nothing seems to be on apart from (low energy) lights and fridges.I'd estimate mine reads 15 -20% high.0 -
Mine is pretty accurate.
Meter reads 61.9kWh the monitor reads 62.86kWh.
Even though it is accurate, I can't get it to read below below 100Watts and I cannot track that down.
I have gone around switched off everything I can think of, leaving only the burglar alarm, bell and supply to CH boiler(obviously switched boiler off) and none of these should use more than a couple of watts.
I have the feeling that at very low consumption the monitor readings are a nonsense. At least I hope so!!!0 -
Compared the the high accuracy required of the actual measuring device i.e the gas/elec meter,,that stat is very poor. If they are going to make a device such as this, then i feel it should be manuf'd to reflect the high spec of the actual measuring device.I queried mine as it appeared to be reading c.40-50% low at one point. Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Mine is reading about 30-50% high at the moment. Daily screen tells me I'm using 13-15kw a day and I'm using 10 or so and the weekly reading says 100.64kw at the moment, and the actual meter reading tells me I've used 72kw in the past 7 days.
I've just set the daily target to 15kw so that proportionately it works out, I know if the bar hits the "15" line, then I've actually used 10
Wish I could still find my Owl monitor, it is much more accurate but DH stuck it away somewhere!0 -
If it is reading high then I guess there is nothing stopping someone from putting in a lower tariff to compensate if they just monitor the cost and not the wattage.0

How many bars are showing in the semi circular bars when ust the low energy lights and fridge are on? I show 4/5 bars.0 -
If you have a look at page 11 of the instructions the table at the bottom of the page gives the segment values.
1 10W
2 50W
3 100W
4 150W
5 200W .....etc.That gum you like is coming back in style.0
