Carnaby Feature Films PLC - ?

As mentioned in one of the previous posts the answer is "Hollywood accounting" through which even successful blockbuster films such as Batman and Forest Gump claim to have failed to have made a profit.I don't understand why all of the carnaby projects end up being in the red. Why is it that none of the projects are ever profitable

Films have to be one of the riskiest 'investments' going - absolutely not suited to 99% of investors and should only be considered a 'punt'. Investors more familiar with the sector might seek to secure the investment by cashflowing tax credits so reducing their exposure.
It is also a sector *riddled* with sharp practice and financial shenanigans - and that's at the legit end of the industry. It certainly gets no better lower down the scale.0 -
Getting followon funding from the same investors can only be accomplished by delivering on your promises to them the first time around. Getting that first lot of funding on a promise does not require you to deliver. It just requires you to promise.I have a friend and his business plan shows how transparent and investor-friendly his production is, because he plans on making a string of films and knows that this can only be accomplished by investors being left contented.
Anyone contacting an anonymous poster on a message board who says they have a plan to give you a good return so that you will invest again for more good returns, deserves whatever losses they make, as a lesson to only go for regulated investments with reputable investment managers in future. Unless you can afford to kiss your money goodbye in the pursuit of greed, you should stay in the regulated sector.
Those few high-net-worth investors who already have lashings and lashings of mainstream investments and can afford the risk of participating in private funding of movies, are probably not hanging out here on a moneysavingexpert forum.
I don't know if I've ever read the forum rules but a brand new member saying their 'friend' has an excellent investment opportunity and you should send them a personal message to learn more about this wonderful unregulated investment scheme... probably should be against the rules if it isn't already.I'd love to post his name and company details here but I think it's against the forum rules; anyone interested could send me a message.
An invitation like that is basically the same as cold call / spam.

Harry, so nice of you to copy and paste from my post verbatim, and add an advert for your spam!0

The striking-off of Carnaby Pictures, aka 'The Last Drop', has been suspended 'as an objection has been received by the Registrar'. Don't know any more.
