How much to fit a door ?

Totally agree with phill and leveller.

You also get the odd door which is a complete pain to fit. I done one recently where the frame was out in all directions and had a slight warp, that door took two hours alone.

Sometimes you have to remove the door stop and re-position it as well.
You can't rush these too much, if you take off too much wood from the door, you cant put it back on and end up with unsightly large gaps.

You also get customers who dont want you cutting / planing the doors in the house as well, so everytime you need to trim it, you're carrying it in and out - adding to the time.

To do properly, they are certainly not a 5 min job. I normally charge around 50 for the first door and 35 per door thereafter, providing they are not the swine ones...:D

We charge £40 + VAT per door for an internal door. Usually around £120+VAT for an external door. Price is going up to £45+ VAT in the new year as that has been our price for 4 years now!

(and it generally takes longer than half an hour as someone suggested)

Will have to have a go at it ourselves... Doesnt look to be an easy job.....

I have just had some doors hanged and it cost £35 per door, if you are having more than a couple of doors installed you should be able to shave a couple of quid off. I am having 9 doors replacing existing doors and it works out at £30 each. It might be better to offer the joiner a lump some once you have done the sums.

I paid £35 per door for 5 oak internal doors. I provided the handles etc and he did a superb job.
