internal door? do it yourself and save the labour.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

Yes internal door but I dont want it wonky or problems opening/closing it ,that has always happened when hubby has attempted it0

ah, you are aware of the hubby-diy disaster phenomenon?
well with the right tools it would take no more than 30 mins, a trader will charge around 60-80 quid labour per hour but this is all off the top of my head.
id suggest trying yourself, but this time suggest he use a spirit level!Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

I hang alot of doors as a tradesman. I charge £35.00 but if it is only one door then I charge £50.00 as it takes a while to get all your stuff set up. And if dave101t can do it in half an hour he is a better man than I am. By the time you have sized the door, set hinges, rebated for the lock and handle set, its more like 90 mins.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Weird ??!?!
I replied yesterday and its disappeared ?!?
We found a guy just down the road ,£60 for the 2 doors ,did a lot quicker than hubby could have done and as non of our walls or doorways are straight he said hubby may have struggled a bit .
Thanks0 -

£30 first door and £20 each door after that is the current rate round here.
Lots of skilled tradesmen looking for work.
Be kind if they do a good job and tip them an extra tenner and more importantly, recommend them.0 -
considering the lack of work in the building trade, ive yet to see any real drop in labour costs/quotes around here yet!Get some gorm.0

id suggest trying yourself, but this time suggest he use a spirit level! It would take me 15 minutes to get my kit out the van and dust sheet up,leaving 15 minutes to take off the existing door, shoot in the new one, router in 3 hinges, fit latch, clean up and put my kit back into the van.Thats not allowing for any travelling time either to or from the job .......To me thats worth half a days money.
Just to add I can generally hang 5 doors in a day including latches and handles......(charging 1 days money)
If ANYONE can do that job in 30 minutes PM and I'll employ them...
Oh and finally I know a lot of time served real tradesmen who don't charge half of what your saying "charge £60-80 per hour".......0
