She is not homeless. There is nothing in this thread to even imply that she is homeless.

They will be waiting a lifetime of sundays to get a council place if they already have a rented 2 bedroomed house.
I have just been accepted by a council as homeless due to fleeing domestic violence, I'm getting a 2 bed flat which is temporary, but I had to literally beg them to help me, and tbh if I didnt have the backing of shelter they would of tried to fob me off.

She may have a priority as she is pregnant but she lives in a flat with the baby's father therefore I see them as having a place to live and not in priority need for a council house.

She will have had to give details of her current property and a 2 bed flat is okay plus won't they ask how she is paying the rent on the place?

What band has she been allocated?

I don't think that there is a priority need for acouncil dwelling.

The current rent is being paid by the OP who is the father of the child-to-be.

councils should rent houses out to ppl who PAY THEIR OWN RENT! in my town...2 bed house private..anywhere between £600-£900....council/HA - about £80 or £90 a week! almost half! Perhaps if there were limits/fair rent schemes then people would be able to afford to pay their own rent and landlords couldnt expect the tax payer to pay their mortgages!!!

how many weeks pregnant is your gf? she should be able to claim MA in a few weeks, so its not that bad, she wont need income support, stay on JSA until she can claim that which is at 29 weeks I think (around 7 months)!

Think this thread is done now people :D

OP has an answer to his question, he cannot claim anything else, they have applied for a council dwelling - have to agree with other posters, you do not count as a priority need and the likelihood of you getting a council property is small (demand for council properties has soared in the last year). Have you tried local housing associations too?

I wish you and your family to be all the best, but the bottom line is you need to look at where you can trim your budget as state benefits are for those most in need.
