Let me understand this properly - despite your good income, you are packing your girlfriend off to a council estate to raise your child there rather than change your lifestyle to suit your budget, simply because benefits aren't raining out of the sky on you on the quantity you feel you deserve?0 -
Do you just read the bits like you reading in a thread and then cherry pick them ?
Why can't we apply for council housing and to be fair what concern is it of yours0 -
You came on here and asked for help. Help was given to you and now you dont like it?
So even with your gf being in a council house and you moving in you will have to pay all the rent because of your income0 -
Grow up,I said i'm thankful for the advice i received,i have no problem with paying justifiable rent to the local council rather than 1k a month to a private landlord.0

Me grow up?????? Emmm excuse me I think you are the one that needs to grow up and see what is happening in front of you?? You have your own house that you pay £1000 a month for. So by moving your girlfriend in you will still be paying that but yet you feel you shouldnt have to so instead you are tossing her out into a grotty horrid council flat???? If you were my partner then you would be long gone out of the picture if you dont that to me. And before you say anything yes I have been a single parent before and I know what its like. You are the one that needs to grow up and take responsobilities for your actions with getting your girlfriend pregnant0

One would say that this thread is done.......*SIGH*

The OP has not applied to toss his girlfriend into a grotty council flat. He has made application via his partner for a dwelling for two people and one child to be. Thousands of people make such applications for council properties every year. His reason is the quite sensible one that council rents are cheaper than private rentals."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"

Thank you once again for becoming a voice of reason.
If only people actually took the time to read the thread instead of latching onto bits of it and venting their anger.
Its not difficult to see how the blood lust of a baying mob works is it.0 -
Applying for social housing and actually getting it are two different things. I would suggest your g/f doesn't hold her breath.
Also, if she does pretend to be a single mum (i.e. not in a relationship), you will both need to be very careful about staying overnight with eachother, or being seen out e.g. shopping together. It's considered fraudulent to claim benefits when you have contrived your circumstances to obscure the fact that you are a couple.
Wouldn't it be easier just to do what most reasonable, responsible people do - live together with your child and budget your lifestyle accordingly?
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
