I am deadly serious. They have a beauty salon. Sickening!!!0 -
here you are, here is a picture of an inmate having her hair done at "brenda's salon" in holloway prison.

absolutely heart breakingly disgusting in every way possible.0 -
I suppose it depends on what prison is supposed to do. Punish or rehabilitate? It also depends on the type of offender. If a pensioner is imprisoned for not paying council tax should that person be treated the same way as a serial killer?0

I suspect a lot of this is down to Benefit Fraud (Tighter controls need to be put in place to prevent this)
Just curious (and I probably should post in the benefits section) but how much in child benefits would one actually be entitled to per week?
I know for a single person with no kids (on reading Max Headrooms posts) that this is not enough to live on.. Safety net for some and not for others?
So in summary, there should be a limit on the amount of child benefit received (2 kids max?) to prevent increased breeding of said "chav" populous and a clampdown on benefit fraud.. (and maybe also RBS investment banker bonuses perhaps? lol)0 -

theres a remarkably easy way to clamp down on fraud within the benefits system:
stop paying out cash!
income support, jsa etc, instead of giving people money, pay the essential bills for them, up to a maximum amount
eg. have a fixed monthly amount for utilities, thats paid directly to the utility provider
for child benefits, pay for school meals & school uniforms, stationery, trips etc
whos going to try & defraud a system that they cant get cash from?
it also then means that we (the state) know that the money is actually being spent on what its supposed to be spent on0 -

good idea.
they should also bring in the food stamps system.
alternatively, they should shoot all these charver scum because it all gets out of hand. most are self serving hateful unproductive (unfortunately not unreproductive) filth. they are scum and death is too good for them.0 -
I hate to find myself finding some sympathy for a donaldtramp post, but having noticed a lot of this stuff over the years doing the 'useless' public sector job I did, I can only say that's why I'm now living in the depths of the countryside rather than in a city. The figures are, ultimately, unsustainable, so when the brown stuff hits the rotating object, things will not be pleasant for those living alongside those who will lose out.
I'm offended, as usual, by Old Slaphead, who seeks to equate dubious benefit pay outs with public sector pensions, saying those who expect to receive them think they are 'fully justified.' Hmm, what would Basil Fawlty say about that, I wonder? Perhaps something like:
"Of course they do, you daft old bint!!!'
But I'm far too polite to say anything like that. I'd rather point out that 30+ years of public service is normally a little different from 30+ years on one's @rse in front of the TV.
Yes, there's a problem with funding there, we agreed that several weeks ago,but it's disingenuous to conflate the two issues in that way.0 -

we can do better than food stamps nowadays
they could be issued with a payment card, like a top-up debit card0 -
Re voucher system
What about the trips to the hospital, the washing machine breaking down, birthdays, Christmas (even people on benefits have these).
I think they have gone into this on the DT board and have discovered it would actually cost far more to administer and create more stigma than the current system. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
