41j0KVs3VeL._SL500_AA280_.jpgMiles, I haven't got a clue what the shape is called. Posted the picture up, in case someone else knows.

H Samuel should have scales to weigh the gold. Most jewellers I have been to have scales, especially the ones that buy gold. Not sure if H Samuel buys gold.

That's a bevel edged flat. I've got a bevel edged flat court - they are curved on the inside so don't cut into you. More comfortable.

Don't buy from H Samuel. Junk shop and not far above Argos in terms of quality.

    Try Betts Metal Sales.

Have a look at their website and then register as a HOBBYIST - that will get you 50% discount. If you aren't registered and logged in, their prices are DOUBLE what you will pay.

We got our wedding rings from them and were very pleased with the quality and value.

Ours are 18 carat white gold and two rings weighing a total of 23g between them cost £450 last year.

High street price would have been over £1000.

They make them, so you aren't going to beat their prices.

Get your ring size at a high street jeweller and then order from Betts.

Their prices change daily (as they are based on the gold price) and your final ring price is based on the actual weight of your ring.

Thanks. I've submitted my membership application so hopefully it will be successful!

I take it you've used them before? No problems with quality or service? At -50%, they certainly seem cheaper than my next best online price.

£211 posted for 8.6 grams of 5mm court ring posted. 7.8 grams for £235 was my previous best, but without the 100% moneyback guarentee.

And £106 for a 3mm bevel edge flat court for the misses at 3.9g!

Now to convince her that buying online is the way forward!

If we ordered them, didn't like them for whatever reason, wrong size, too big a bevel edge etc, what options would we have? (help me answer her questions before she asks them!!)

What's also interesting, is that they also sell bullion, and you can buy 18ct 5mm court shaped wire, the same as my ring, and if you buy the same weight as my ring, its only £4 cheaper than the ring!
  • Just wanted to say I would reccomend Elma Jewelerry on ebay - was highly dubious about buying from an ebay shop but both mine and H2B's ring are excellent - far far cheaper than the high street and both times we have ordered the rings they were dispatched within 12 hours and arrived in 36 hours (even in this bad weather)

    Thanks again for this link.

We ordered them and they arrived today. We're chuffed to bits with them. They were literally half the price of the ones we tried on in the high street, and exactly the same.

We paid £316 for both, totalling 12.5 grams of 18ct yellow gold.

I had a plain court fit 5mm in medium weight and she had a court flat 3mm with the bevelled edge she was after.

I cant encourage people enough to buy your wedding rings online. What sealed the deal with the misses was that they also sell other jewellery, some of which she reckonised from the window of a local high street jewellery, at twice the price.

Your high street outlet will be ordering it from somewhere like Betts and treating you you to a 100% mark up.
