moggins wrote:This is my meal plan for the next week
Mon - chicken rice salad
Tue - Sausage and bean casserol, mashed potatoes
Wed - Chicken Curry, rice
Thurs - Tuna & Pasta
Fri - Chili & Rice
Sat - Spaghetti Bolognese
Sun - Onion, bacon & potato hotpot
so that makes my shopping list for the main items
5Kg potatoes - £1.33
2Kg rice - £1.20
2Kg onions - 88p
2 tins beans - 26p
1 jar value bolognese sauce -27p
3 tins value chopped tomatoes 45p
1 bag value pasta quills - 19p
1 jar value mayonnaise -37p
1 chicken £1.66
2lbs minced beef - £1.50
1 pack bacon bits - 99p
2 cans tuna - 60p
1/2 pack turkey sausages 50p
Which makes £10.20 for the main meals, it costs me £9.78 for lunches for 3, £2.00 for breakfasts. We get through 20 litres of milk every week which costs £7.00, even allowing an extra £10 for cleaning materials, sundries etc that still only comes to £38.98.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

moggins that meal plan sounds fab0
-
Yes moggins I agree with Rachie B that your meal plan sounds fab and I am not sure why Black Saturn was so nasty about it? Seems childish really maybe she likes all the attention on her menu?????????0
-
When was I nasty? I merely said that the menu looked plain. Lots of rice and pasta doesnt personally do anything for me but thats just MY personal opinion.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

If you look at the four weekly plan you will find lots of variety. Unfortunately lots of potato don't do it for us either, they all love their pasta and rice which is a good alternative form of carbohydrate. you say your family don't like fruit, mine aren't overly keen on potato, each to their own. What they do like is highly flavoured, spicey foods. Unfortunately I can't get away with fish fingers as they've never grown up with them and DH would throw a hissy fit if I put fishfingers and chips on his plate.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Sounds yummy Moggins. Too often you see on here people saying how cheapily they eat but when you see eat you can see why, its nice to see a healthy, balanced plan.
We are all veggie in this house though so I can't use alot of the ideas. I've had alot of good ideas from these boards. Piratess, you'll have the bill down in no time.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
Thanks moggins!!! My dh also refuses to eat a meal if there is no meat in it and this has given my some new ideas!!!!! He and ds are also not very keen on potatoes so it should keep them happy! I am going to have a good look at your menuplanner and will prob post back tommorow asking for some recipes if that's ok?
