You could have asked to card it as well if you had a debit card with you. Even small shops often have cardpoint payment systems nowadays.

I work in a pub and we are not allowed to take £50 notes, unless the manager is present. The main reasons for this are that we don't see enough of them to be able to tell a fake easily ,you go on instinct once you've taken enough of them, hence the problem with fifties.and that if its an afternoon shift, it can easily use the entire float in a particular till and need the manager to restock tills. Also the lighting isn't good enough to be able to check clearly.

We have the occasional customer who may come in after a win on the horses etc. but they will usually ask the manager to change them first, that way they can be checked and put to one side.

Why didn't you just go and change the £50 note elsewhere and come back with a smaller note instead of acting like an obnoxious pillock in the shop and making a fool of yourself?

PMSL at your post, your name sums you up perfectly ya muppet.:rotfl: where do you suggest the OP change her £50 note, don't you think she would have encountered the same problem elswhere?

I bet it was a relation of yours who worked in the chemist.:rotfl:

Muppets have difficulty with keyboards on account of their big fat fingers. :rotfl:

Perhaps he could have started with a Bank? Thats always a good place to get change.

As for your "bet" - well, you lost that one. Would you like to settle with Cash or Card?

You make the assumption there was a bank nearby?

As for settling the "bet", I stand by my original post.:cheesy:
  • You make the assumption there wasn't a bank nearby. Either way the OP behaved like a spoilt 5 year old at the supermarket checkout, stamping feet and kicking up a fuss until the adult gave in and let them have their own way.

No, you really did lose. You owe me £50... when will you send it?

  • I don't believe the OP did behave like a spoiled brat as they offered payment to buy the goods, it wasn't their fault the Chemist acted like a spoiled brat by refusing to take a £50 note as payment.

You will have to provide conclusive proof that it wasn't one of your relations that worked in the chemist, before you can claim on "your bet"

Why don't you prove the contrary - you made what was basicaly an accusation.

Of course the OP behaved like a spoiled brat! He/She/It went into a chemist to collect a prescription, tried to pay with a £50 note. When told "I cant accept that" He/She/It kicked off demanding to speak to the Supervisor/Manager/Director/ until He/She/It got their own way.

I bet the OP is one of those crazies who goes out SEEKING trouble in stores just so they can do the officious "customer is always right" act.

You will have to provide proof that the assistant WAS a relative becaue YOU made the ridiculous accusation!

You have 14 calender days to pay before I pass your debt to a "collector"

Hmm... I don't agree with you but I think you illustrate perfectly why there is conflict on this board. It would be a good world if we could all be nice to each other, but the thing is we can't. This is because no two people will agree 100% on what is nice behaviour.

People get cross when they see people being unsympathetic here, when in some people's eyes they are actually being nice by taking a stand against rude and stroppy behaviour. No-one can win!

Who rattled your cage? An accusation you say, have you had a sense of humour bypass recently, or did you not notice the smiley face at the end?.....Jeez some people on here really need to get a grip likes.
