anyone got it up and running ok and able to offer help.
after booting for first time and allowing certain programs,i get the "get started screen".but my mouse wont work because i need to update the drivers,how do i do this .
its an hp nc8230 xp pro laptop,and ive installed vista ultimate(in for a penny in for a pound lol !)

just waiting to see if this sorts it out,that shell pack from crystalxp was very good ,because this" proper "vista doesnt look any different at all at first glance0

well ive installed drivers on laptop and rebooted ,but get error message saying unable to connect to synaptics pointing device driver0

sorry mate ,that was someone elses thread and i wasnt really getting any joy so i thought id start a new one.

well ive got no connection,no av and cant use me mouse,ill sort out the connection and av just cant get vista to recognise me mouse0

i went for the upgrade xp option,im wondering if i should go for the clean install instead ,its still a new laptop and i wouldnt really lose anything and i could always go back to factory settings if it goes pear shaped i think.0

Lol, yeah you need to do a clean install as its a beta OS so thats the best option, all you have to do is burn all your files to CD first so that you have a copy of all your Documents and Pictures, Music etc etc, get what I mean?
Then youll have to burn an ISO image on a blang DVD disk so if you aint got a DVD burner your stuck anyways.0 -
yeah no dvd burner,ive got no music on it and everthing else is on me desktop as well apart from a few pictures ,thought about backing out and going back to xp but im in too deep now:rolleyes:0

Well as long as you backup and make sure the backup is fine thats the main thing, then at some stage get a copy from a reliable source i.e MS, Dont get a dodgy Vista Beta, then install as a fresh, if no good you can always reload XP again via that being a clean install.
