Can anyone please advise on these laptops? There are slight diferences in specs but will they make that much difference? and are the differences worth the difference in price?
This is for a Christmas present for 25 yr old daughter, she will use it for work related things and studying plus nornal home use
This one is the most preferred but it comes with vista which I don't want, I think it comes with the option to send off to sony for an upgrade to windows 7 for £20 but I don't know how long this will take or much is involved in changing it considering I've never done it before?
All white one NS30E/W
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-ns-series/vgn-ns30e-w £480
This is the 2nd preferred although I did want all white not white and cream, both 1st and 2nd choice are 3gb ram and I really wanted 4gb but it could be upgraded later?
Cream and white one NW20EF/W
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-nw-series/vgn-nw20ef-w £490
Third choice which is silver and not really the colour wanted but still considering as this is 4gb ram
Silver one NW20SF/S
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-nw-series/vgn-nw20sf-s £560

Honestly Lady K, save your money and have a look at tesco direct, for the money you want to spend you could get a top of the range from them. Sony are just not worth the money, waaaay overpriced for what you get. Yes they look nice but nice don't get the work done!!!0

Oh gawd its took ages trying to choose something, weeks in fact. I particularly liked the keyboards on them because they are nicely spaced out and look easy to use, can't find the same in any other laptops. Plus the white colour and keyboard is a nice change from the blacks and silvers especially for a female and I also like the textured finish on them rather than shiney.
I have quite a lot of Amazon vouchers I was goling to put towards it (£350 worth) so wasn't really looking at tesco direct but would consider somewhere else if it was really worth it and spend the Amazon vouchers on something else sometime. I was looking at Dell but I just didnt really fancy Dell and I got confused with HP but everything is manly black anyway and I just thout it would be a nice change. I was originally looking for a 17" I've been round in circles. I don't have to spend that much but I want a decent oneThanx

If you don't care about an Argos Return, you can get a Sony for £383.0

I don't want to go with reburbished because its a Christmas present but also I've never used ebay before. I'm a member of a lot of cashback sites so would be a bonus to be able to use one of those tooThanx

The RAM can easily be upgraded at any time, but why do you want 4GB RAM? W7 will run fine on 3GB RAM (or even 2GB) for your purposes.
Only the 64 bit versions of W7 will benefit from 4GB, as the 32 bit versions can only address 3.5GB.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I understand. Presentation is important in this case.
I was happy with the condition of mine and was even happier to save £100.0 -
If the sonys above are not classed as good laptops are there any that anyone would recommend as good ones as I'm now starting again, 17 inch preferred but 15.5 ok. I dont want to be too long in ordering now as its getting so near christmas. I'm just completely confused as what to go for now
Thanx

You need to say what she's going to use it for. Does she need an optical drive, if not, would a netbook do? What screen size?
All new laptops now come with Windows 7, don't even consider an older one running Vista.
It seems that a lot of people consider the colour the most important factor nowadays...would you choose a car purely based on the colour? Personally I'm a great believer in the Henry Ford principle of laptop colours
