Updated bus pass with added benefit

  • I think some regional councils automatically apply the C (companion/carer) to the persons card depending on their disability. My brother's blind and I remember his first bus pass didn't but they issued me a pass so I could travel on the bus with him but when his new card was issued it did.

My husband was issued with C+ card 2 years ago and covers both buses and trains in Scotland
  • Cant get this in London as I enquired and was told that as ALL transport is free in London with the Freedom Pass, they dont allow a carers card.

My husband has had a C+ card for a couple of years now so as i was under 60 i could travel with him free because of eyesight problems.
Its not a foregone conclusion that yu will get one and you do have to have some documentation from your doctor.
I am told by the County Council that the C is for Companion and not Carer.

    This is north Yorkshire.

What annoys me is that although Scottish people can use their bus passes in England we, the English cant use them in Scotland, not really fair (or fare :rotfl:) sorry:o
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Can we? Do you know how this works across England?

I'm hoping to visit my Friend in London soon, would I be able to use my card for [at least] discounted travel for me and him while I'm there?

I have the Companion part on my pass, which is a Godsend [here, in Scotland] as I can't travel alone, and he's normally forced to pay for journeys on public transport he wouldn't normally pay for e.g he'd normally walk the distances that I can't and we have to use public transport when I'm there.

Any help on this would be appreciated, I've never heard about using your Scottish Entitlement Card in England.

We can get this, but you HAVE to have someone with you every trip. Sometimes I can manage on my own (I've got MS) sometimes I can't, and I don't have anyone living with me, so it would be difficult.

Well, not both your daughters - if one is your carer, then probably one could get on free.
