Hello,
I bought the above TV ont he 23rd of October 2008. I bought it from an online website as the cost to buy it from Sony was £440 more expensive.
Anyway, I registered the TV about 2 months ago (I should have done this earlier but I bought a house at the same time as the TV and was up to my eyes in things to do regarding it).
When I registered the TV on the Sony site, it told me that I was entitled to a 3 year gaurantee. This was great news and I proceed to print to certificate and proof of purchase off. Almost after printing this certifiacte off, my TV developed a slight fault. The screen seems to ghost the picture on the left hand side, this only last up to a min and isn't the signal as the TV settings are also distorted.
I took the TV to the Sony centre in Edinburgh and they advised that the TV warrenty I had had expired. I was extreamly angry at this as I would have got the TV looked at much sooner if the site hadn't told me the warrenty wasn't valid (3 year gaurantee relates to TV's bought from April this year). They did however kindly hav it looked at by a TV engineer and I was informed that a part costing £300 had to fixed on it. This was all done free of charge as a good will gesture. Great!
When i took the TV home however, I was miffed to say the least to find the TV still the same problem as before. At this point, I am not sure what to do, should I just leave the problem as it only happens when the TV is turned on and sorts itself after a min or should I speak to Sony and try and argue my case about this 3 year gaurantee? The major annoyance with it all was that I would have had this problem looked at under my 1 year warrenty if it wasn't for the site telling me I had a 3 year one.
Please help.

As a TV would be expected to last longer than 13 months without fault, you should consider going back to the company you purchased it from, under the 1971 Sale Of Goods Act, and see what they can do.0

You most go back to the company definitelyHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Spoke to the TV repair guys and they have not ordered a new screen for the TV under warrenty. I pray this sorts the problem as a 1 year old £1000 TV breaking down is a bit of a worry. Thanks for everyone that came back to my post so far. Stay tuned to see if this sorts the issue.

I hope everything will turn out fine. I have a Sony Bravia also. As a first look, 1 year warranty is not very much for such an expensive television.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Just found this thread !, we bought the same TV in November 2009 ! and have had a new screen fitted in September 2010 (within the first year) guess what we are now waiting for an engineer to come again as we have the same problem again !!!, luckily we have extended warranty but a new screen every year is a bit too much surely Sony are to blame !....I rang Sony to complain and they are escalating my complaint I am not sure what this means but I will wait and see !!, at this rate the warranty will run out and it will be cheaper to get a new TV
....Three screens within three years ?????
