  • I think we established that 'proper' banks will usually take alot of coin bags at main or biggish branches, while small out of the way branches and building societies will set a limit to the number/value of bags they'll take. But its worth checking if your local bank has a change sorter, I think HSBC, and some NatWest and RBS branches have started to get them (at least thats where I've noticed them).

Never use the supermarket ones as they charge for changing the coins (plus dedicated sealed potters will be lurking to swoop on any change you drop/leave).

A few pennies from the floor at work tonight, and a phone number...best bin that rather than putting it in the bottle or Mr Scoobs will be getting upset.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Silly question really - but what do you do at the end of the year with a huge pot of random coins? Isn't sorting it a nightmare? And will the bank take it off your hands no probs? Or do you stuff it into one of those supermarket change machines?

Hi onlyroz, it's relatively easy, we just get ourselves plastic cash bags from a bank or PO, put the correct amounts that they specify inside and either take them a few at a time to the bank; or - this is what I do; take them to my local PO and shop, they happily exchange them there as they're always pleased to have cash. Just don't ever exchange them in machines in supermarkets as they rob you blind!!! :( Are you thinking of joining us? It's never too late to do so. :)

That'll teach me to read the text in future eh Applecider! Blowed if I saw that this afternoon. You always get one! I'll think about PB, still think there has to be a way of getting one from one of my phoyo folders though. You've got NO back gardens in your Council estate?? That is bad news! :(

youngmummy, a box, tin, jar..it never matters what it is or if it's homemade as it's what's inside that counts!! :D Well done on adding to it.

    5p in my pot today.

Have a good day tomorrow folks.

Ah...I see what you mean about the jordi bit at least, hadn't even looked to see where you came from....should've done though as they're all a bit doolally oop ther!!! :rotfl: The Mc part, now I could say something about mc and stick a u in the middle and..... NO! I'm controlling myself - just!!! ;)

Ahhhhh Applecider, she's just sooo very beautiful!!! A lovely shot in the basket and seeing her with that baseball bat...is she in training for something we didn't ought to ask about!! I love your garden...or is it the park!!! :D So, AC, how did you do it, straight from your TP account or..? I know what you mean about a profile shot (I've got a butterfly on mine) but popping her on there would be like a pin head for sure. BTW, I love what you did to your BF, great thinking! :D

Afternoon sparky, I don't know about folk not seeing you if you're on 2 wheels, I'm sure it's more a case of them thinking "he's only small (no inference to your size!), I can easily get passed him!" No darn patience at all. BTW. tis one thing for us gals to relieve our menfolk of cash that weighs em down, but YOU taking it off your DW is appalling!!!!! Not a good example sparks!!! ;)

SG, you're in the same position as me so at least we're not lonely, loads of others like us too I'll bet. :)

Two words - Council estate - bad news backgardens!!! I love it here but wish I had a garden!! bEST WAY to get a pic on here is upload it to a photo holding site like photo bucket.

Sparky hope ur overtime goes quick theres nothing quite like overtime on ur payslip at the end of month/week. I used to love it so much better than a normal one.

Not much in the pot today jus a handful of coppers n 5ps in my purse. but... pennies make pounds,,, pounds make a nice shiny car for me :)

    Morning AC
Overtime is going fast, but I wish people would stop interfering and trying to change things all the time, something that's working fine doesn't need fixing by an idiot boss

Anyhow moan over 22p from DW (she handed it over this time :D) also going to pop £2 into the pot when I get home tonight :)

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and keep saving ;)

  • Firstly apologies - I don't think I've ever posted on this thread, even though I have a number!

I'm very sad to say I'm going to have to withdraw from the fun. We had our pots (plural! we were doing so well!) stolen, so the game is over for this year.

    Sob.
