£60 int my pot today. It's pay day and my monthly xmas allowance has gone in.

Sparky, thanks for reminding me how old I am. I remember everything and it brought back pleasant memories for me. But I have others.

No electric blankets or hot water bottles for us, but a hot shelf out of the oven range wrapped in a sheet and put into the bed before we went.
Freezing feet on lino floors, no carpet for us.!
No central heating, just a fire in the living room, and a fire in the front room, only lit on special occasions.

    Right that's it......now I know I'm old.

June 2010 - 11/56 lbs Weight to lose before May 2011.

  • a whole 2 pence went in my jar yesterday. I'm not doing very well with it at the moment and we are due to break into the jars in 15 weeks.

    Sparky,

I remember the manual choke but none of the others and I am disappointed that I remembered 7 from the second list, I was hoping I was too young!:(

Eek, I must be ancient as I remembered 13 from list 2. But then we lived in the north and times were slower changing up there than dahn sahff.

And Jack Frost making amazing patterns on the bedroom windows? I actually miss those! (But not freezing to death inside the house - glad for central heating really).

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning everyone,
It's scary how much things have changed, and in a relatively short time span. I remember having to go to the local wash house to have a bath once a week, and I'm only 47 , we never had a bathroom in our house until 1973, when we had a grant done on the house :o. My DW thought I was winding her up when I told her about that, coming from "over the water" (Wirral) they always had lashings of hot water (from the tap) and no tin bath in front of the fire :D

Have a great day everyone ;)
