Have finally received a reply to my letter of complaint to Little Chef (see my original post, 28 August). Won't bore you with the details of the letter, except to say that Little Chef are "sorry for the inconvenience" blah, blah blah. The interesting bit is that they've sent me a voucher for £10, so when I've printed another 50% off voucher, the whole family should be able to dine for free. By the way Little chef say in the letter that children's meals aren't included in the deal, but there's no mention of that on the voucher.

Glad to hear you have had success soba. I too wrote to LC with the same complaint at the end of august and had given up hope of ever hearing from them, but maybe i will get a reply eventually after all!

Little chef say in the letter that children's meals aren't included in the deal, but there's no mention of that on the voucher.

On the voucher it does say the discount is only for selections from the main menu - so if you use the kids menu, then they are right in saying that those items aren't included.

I've used the vouchers twice now and both times had problems at the till with 50% not being removed from the drinks. Luckily both times they accepted that on the voucher it states drinks ARE included after a fair bit of confusion over what they should do. ::)

Last time I used a voucher, a couple of weeks ago, something dawned on me when studying it whilst waiting for my meal. If as the T&Cs state the offer doesn't expire until 30th June 2005, why then in the section where you write the date of use is the year 2004 pre-printed? :-/

After noticing this it got me wondering whether the original offer expired in 2004 and the vouchers had been tampered with - I even started feeling a bit nervous like I was pulling a scam!

Also this issue over the drinks not being included in the offer at the till makes me wonder whether maybe the voucher IS supposed to say "Not including drinks"? :-/

It's the expiry date (30/6/05) that's significant!

The 2004 put in near the top is an aid to filling in the date when you hand in the coupon.

You'll have to use up some energy and change it to 05 after New Years Day!

Phil_P, your worries are without any foundation!

There is no question that the voucher has been tampered with.

This thread has had almost 3800 hits to date (after being mentioned in the newsletter), and many will have used the voucher without posting here about it.

If you had taken the trouble to read even the latest posts in this thread you would have seen that one poster has received a letter of apology from Little Chef together with compensation for troubles encountered because the restaurant staff don't know how to deal with the coupon - they would certainly not have taken that attitude if a forgery was involved!

Little Chef regularly use these type of promotions such as BOGOFs etc - this one is just different to the usual ones.

Just enjoy it if you want to!

Blimey that's the first time I've received a rap across the knuckles for not reading previous posts before posting. I had read this thread a while ago and when I wrote this post I was pressed for time, sorry!  :-[

Not sure why it's relevant to my post how many people have read this thread, after all as I've said I know the vouchers work, just wanted my mind put at rest is all..  :-/

Whilst I'm well aware that many people have used this voucher with success, conversely the last Little Chef I used it at told me they had never seen them before, which added to my nagging doubt!

Let's face it, the thought of a 50%-off voucher that's valid for a year and is entirely unlimited in its supply does seem to be almost to good to be true!

Having said that, of course I will carry on enjoying it, thanks!  ;D

The relevance is that many people will have downloaded and used the coupon.

We would have had feedback by now if your suggestion that it was a forgery was true!
