Wow, congrats Felixmonster, you have put a smile on my face, not to mention HSBC putting one on yours! I'm not expecting the same result, but if anything like that does happen I will be over the moon. Fingers crossed then!
Wage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you
  • Gave HSBC a ring today to confirm they had everything and the info for both loans. Spoke to a friendly guy in the customer services department, but all he could tell me was that they have 8 weeks to look into the complaint - At least I know that has now started. Hopefully it won't take that long, but i'll keep you all updated. I've claimed bank charges back from HSBC and have stopped my wages going into my account - switching to Lloyds, so maybe they may not be quite as quick as they were with Felixmonster

    Hi :)
I have a potentially stupid question here: I had an HSBC loan approx 8 years ago with PPI, (didn't know it was optional) the marvellously consolidated it with another loan to pay off some c/cards a year or so later, but the latter loan had no PPI.
I have no record now of the loans etc, just wondered if I had any chance of reclaiming PPI on original loan?
    Many thanks

    Hi there......:D
Its not a stupid question hun....:D

Anyways if you can try to get hold of the account number for that loan then yes go for it.

How long ago did you settle it?
Bank statements should allow you to go back at least 6 years, so if you do not have these handy, and if you bank online, and also still with the same bank, then check on there.
The account number for the loan should be shown next to the monthly loan repayments.

If this was taken out with your bank they may even give you these details on request, of if another provider give them a quick ring, they may just ask a few personal questions, your name, DOB, address and so on.;)

    Good luck.

Go into a branch, thats how I got the account numbers of the loans I had. At least it gave me a little info so I could go back to them with my letters. They gave me a print out of each loan, the dates and the payment amount, but it was only a list and didn't show a breakdown of loan and ppi amount. You can at least use the account number when writing to HSBC and follow the details Di gives above. It was all free too, I said i had packed all my paperwork away during a move and couldn't find the details. I never mentioned ppi at first and the guy in the branch was great. As soon as I mentioned my issue with a potential ppi miss-sell and the fact I had cover then it was a different story. The guy got a bit arsey, but as he had given me all the info I needed, I just said thank-you and left. I paid off my original loan early but asked for everything on the PPI. If i'm not entitled to all of it then i'm sure HSBC will tell me

    Good luck :)

  • Right, got my "we are looking into your complaint" letter with a "we are sorry you feel the need to complain about your policy, please read the leaflet enclosed". It states they will get back to me in 4 weeks as per company policy, but it may take 8 weeks. I'm not banking on anything quickly esp with Xmas coming up. It does list both loans on the letter and the policy numbers for the PPI, so at least I know I had it in place on my second loan (although not sure how much it was for). I will update as more information comes through. Letter dated the 10th, but I presume that the 8 weeks start on their receipt of letter which would be around the 5th.

    Hi there
    Thanks for the update.
Hopefully you will hear way before then, fingers crossed.
They have probably gone by when they received the letter, but with a bit of luck you will not be waiting that long.;)
