This has happened to me - 1 spam email sent, and the next day they have closed my account citing terms of service  I can't get a response from any of their support services - tried abuse@hotmail.com .... I tried the webforms ..... I raised a thread on windowslivehelp which they haven't yet responded to. :(
  • Any computer I ever had automatically opened Outlook Express, so I'm assuming that this has been changed to Windows Live Mail?
Windows 7 lacks a mail client. Care to guess what the default behaviour is?
  • No I meant that the OP has changed it to Windows Live Mail. I know that Microsoft aren't allowed to put the Live Essentials Pack in with the operating system anymore.

They never did. I was referring to the fact that when I press the envelope-shaped key on my keyboard it opens the default browser with a sign-in page for Windows Live.

    Hmm... could this be relevant?

But Live Essentials is only really the replaement name for software which Microsoft did bundle with the operating system, such as Outlook Express, which is what I always got.

They not only changed the names - they changed the software too. Those parts of the Live Essentials pack with counterparts in the operating system are newer versions. Replacements. Though they are similar, they are by no means identical.

    Windows XP:
    • Outlook Express v6
    • Windows Movie Maker v1.1→2.5
    • Windows Messenger* v4→5.1
    Windows Vista:
    • Windows Mail v?
    • Windows Movie Maker v2.1→2.6
    Windows 7:
    • <none of the above>
    Windows Live Essentials:
    • Windows Live Mail v12→14
    • Windows Live Movie Maker v14
    • Windows Live Messenger v8→14 (formerly MSN Messenger v1→7.5)
    *Unrelated to MSN Messenger.
