Why on earth would I want to draw people into tesco?

The reason we did it is we had lots of contact from MoneySavers for whom it works - and we tried it and it works. And we've written in detail the exact situation.

Sadly Tesco is being slow to confirm whether its true or not - but there is no doubt we paid £20 for a £25 card. Looking through the feedback it seems most people aren't having such luck (I see someone has)

However glad to see the Co-Op doing it too - we will add that to the top thread.

And keep you updated on what Tesco said when it (eventually) deigns to reply.

Sorry worded it wrong! i meant that Tesco may be trying to entice people in to their stores by making up an offer that may / or may not exist as it doesn't seem to be a consitstant offer, surely if it is one price in branch of Tesco it should be same price in EVERY branch of Tesco.

Certainly not worth the risk at Tesco, but The Co-operative is doing the same promotion and actually promoting it in store - it starts this Friday: http://www.marketingmagazine.co.uk/news/971385/Co-operative-launches-iTunes-Christmas-promotion/

Maybe someone can add this in the top post as well as a Tesco/Co-operative offer, since Co-operative's may be more local to some.

Is this in all co-ops? Its says 375 on the link above.

I suppose I will have to wait until Friday and see if my local co-op has it advertised :D
  • Paid £25 for my itunes voucher at Tesco this morning - the sales assistant said the £20 promotion ended yesterday - so missed it by one day - never mind!
  • I went to buy one today but when they scanned it it was £25, I was told it's finished :(

You have to remember these cards have absolutely no value until they are activated by the till and they are paid for. They sit out openly on the shop floor where they can be easily stolen but their would be no point as they have no value stored on them.
Think of it as the old fashioned over printed gift vouchers you used to get. They are useless until printed, the card value is just to show the recipient how much it will be loaded with. Tesco will not be losing money by scanning it, yes it becomes a bit of wasted plastic for all you eco peeps but otherwise its no great loss to them.

  • tried to find out which of the co-op stores are running this promotion and although they seem to have a link to the page in question, as yet no information has been posted so it may be worth checking this later

Good point, I've seen some Co-ops with a voucher stand/rack. So I'd assume it's only those ones with such racks (although it's possible new racks could be installed!).
