PAC Code Expires on 4/12 - what can I do???

My orange contract expired in October. I waited around till November to see what there iPhone prices where going to be.

When it became clear that they were going to be no cheaper than O2, I decided to ask for my PAC code, so I could get the £55 Quidco cashback and port my old number to O2.

The PAC code expires on 4/12, and realitcally even if I ordered my phone today, I'm not going to be able to port the number before expiry. Plus I'm thinking it would be wise to see what happens when Tesco release the phone on 16/12.

I phoned Orange and asked them to switch me to PAYG, but they said that would be another 30 day notice period - is that right?

Likely to be right because it's a different process they use and they have to send you a payg sim card for the transfer
pop in to an o2 store or any other network, most have free payg sims, get one today and request the number transfer (number takes 2 working days) and use that while you wait for tesco

Thanks for that, I am guessing I'm going to need to unlock the phone as well if a port to another network on PAYG sim?

You're not compelled to move too quickly, if you haven't quite made up your mind yet.

You can ask for another PAC, though that presumably also involves another 30 days notice
