My preference if I had to exclude wifi would be the nano for convenience, but since the touch does do so much more I prefer the touch overall.

If I'm out and about I use the nano, at home its the touch, if you have wifi at home it has to be the touch.

Also, have you considered getting a dock for it, as an alternative to headphones.

My daughter has a dock for her bedroom. You still need headphones though - not very portable otherwise - although the new versions of the Touch can be listened to without headphones - my daughter's is the first version and you can't listen to it without earphones.

Bit difficult to carry a dock around while you're on the bus to school though :)

Also, have you considered the musical choices of today's 'youth' ? I'm sure my parents didn't want to listen to whatever 'rubbish' I was listening to when I was younger and would far prefer me to wear headphones :)

Having both then, do you have a preference for which is the easiest to use?? wifi excluded?

    xx

Both really easy to use. The nano is a music player, the Touch is a portable computer that plays music, games, wifi, music, other apps.

If you want something very small with a video camera and an FM radio, buy the iPod Nano.

If you want something with a very large capacity, buy the iPod Classic.

Otherwise, the iPod Touch is the model to go for. It's a little computer in your pocket as much as it's an mp3 player. The music controls are on the Touch itself; you don't need to use special earphones with it.

My OH's iphone guided us through tesco the other day... great item finder app that works.

For that reason alone I prefer the touch. Also can't stand the wheel when I'm trying to demo a nano to customers at work. The touch screen is much more responsive and is just a joy to use.

Sound quality isn't as good as my Sansa Fuze, but if that were to go to the great big music jukebox in the sky, I'd have a serious think about getting a Touch.
