Help! ipod nano or ipod touch???

I'm getting a new ipod for ds (17) for Christmas, he thinks he is having the nano 16gb, but ive been looking at the touch 64gb, i would go for the touch, but the one thing thats putting me off is that the music controls are on the headphone cord and as he gets through headphones at a rate of knots, lol, i dont want to be having to buy ipod headphones all the while at their silly prices.

Can anyone tell me if theres still volume etc facility on the ipod itself, or what your thoughts are please??? Need to sort it today cos gonna get the £10 voucher from argos which finishes today :)

Thanks for any help!!!

gp xx

The up/down volume control on the touch are on the left hand side at the top as you look at it.

Thanks, so its as easy to control your music from the ipod itself as it is on the nano then?

Ds has just worn out his old nano, to say nothing of filling the 4gb capacity!

Yes, it's very straightforward. I don't have a touch but I've got a couple of iPhones and there's even another software way to control the volume - when the screen is locked if you double-tap the home button below the screen it can be set to bring up the iPod controls and a software volume control as well. Not sure if this is on the Touch but a nice function if it is.

My daughter has an Ipod touch. She's on about her 6th pair of headphones so yes it's okay. Both my son and her have one and I never realised the volume cotrols were on the side of the touch. I just thought you touched the screen and slid the controls up or down with your finger!

Is your daughter using ordinary headphones now then jackieb, or does she buy the ipod ones?

No, they cost a small fortune. She's currently got some pink Gumy ones. http://direct.tesco.com/product/images/?R=100-6583
They've lasted the longest so far. She's had her Ipod for almost 2 years. I honestly don't know what she does to the earphones.

Lol! She sounds like my sons twin!! He eats headphones :rotfl: Thanks for that info jackieb, it was my main concern. Ive got both ipods on reserve at argos so think i'll have a pootle on down there now and view the both of them, i can feel an extra moth or two flying out of my purse here :o :rotfl:

Thanks again, both, for your help

Having both, I would say the nano is the neatest music player and easiest to carry round but the touch is a much more entertaining piece of kit with its wireless internet capability.

Having both then, do you have a preference for which is the easiest to use?? wifi excluded?

We've got a touch. Nice big screen, and very easy to use.
