Not sure if you'll get Lane Guidance for £100.

I'd look at the Garmin Nuvi 2xx range or the Tom Tom One.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • You won't go far wrong with a standard TomTom.

Not the biggest but I think it's perfectly fine

    Got

    A mere snip:

    RRP: £119.99
    Price: £84.99
    You Save: £35.00 (29%)

2 quick tips - don't forget about the night vision option (I see so many people being blinded at night), and if you have problems sticking it to the windscreen try quickly licking the sucker prior. <- cue the jokes

TomTom One XL is an excellent sat nav (the XL means it has a bigger screen than the standard one and it does make a difference). I have the Europe version and it got me from Vilamoura Portugal to Southend England without me making a single wrong turning, admittedly mostly motorways but still, 1500+ miles without a mistake! Its very good and does everything you listed. Maybe a little more than £100 but well worth it.

TomTom One XL Europe is £129.99 at Currys online with free delivery. Not too bad, I paid over £200 for mine a couple years ago.

Similar price for my TomTom One Classic a year or so ago.

I prefer Garmisn, but either would do.

I'd advise your friend to try them out.

We were loaned a Garmin sat-nav on a recent trip, and my wife fell in love with it. Naturally, we're now interested in purchasing one. We went to the store a few days ago and tried out a TomTom they had, and my wife hated it. She found the menus more difficult to use, and it seemed to her to be less intuitive.

So, it'll be a Garmin for us I think.

If you don't get widescreen, you will wish you had.

My vote would be Garmin because I have had no trouble with mine and there is lots of free software available for it.

But have you tried widescreen? I've tried both and a big screen is a real benefit.
