RosWright wrote:How many accounts can you have? - I want to open up a nationwide current account before I go to the US on holiday (no ATM withdrawal fee or loading rate) - will I be allowed to do this as i don't want the hassle of closing my Natwest account and sorting out the wages, direct debits etc.
As many as you want as far as I know. Didn't have to transfer my salary to the flex account when I opened it.0 -
I have two current accounts, 1 online savers account and 1 credit card with Lloyds.
One high interest savings account, 1 egg money, 1 regular credit card with Egg
One savings account, one current account with smile (Don't use either, keep meaning to close them)
Various credit cards.
I guess Lloyds is my main one. The kids are with Abbey, hubby is with Barclays."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -

I'd differentiate between savings type media and current accounts/ credit cards that have kending facilities attacged to them, IMO there is no problem with having as many as you like of the savings type, but prudence, that comes fromseeing too many get themselves in a grand muddle warns me against having too many current accounts/ cards. It's no good robbing Peter to pay Paul to pay Mark, especially if you don't know who you've robbed when. Therfore I have one current acount, Master card that I use frequently; Visa that I keep in reserve for any palce that doesn't accept Mastercard; a department store card, that I acquired several years ago, when I got a large discount for using it. This I only use if the store is providing a discount. You see I'm not very venturous:D
BTW I think the card thing is becoming inane/insane. Yesterday an assitant at that store told me, that, if I tool out another card and cancelled the old one, I could have a discount on my purchase. I just can't see the sense and anyhow I'd not got the time with the departure of my 2 hourly bus imminent!0 -
I have got three current accounts each with o/d limits on just in case. Have six savings accounts each with money in for different things...florida holiday that I'm saving for, this years hols, xmas etc. Kids have got three accounts as the rates keep changing. Have two credits cards and OH has two current accounts. Oh also a flexi-loan that I have had for 12 years and have only used it once.
I keep all these open as you never know when you will have an emergency!!!WIN £2008 in 2008 £1836.31 2009 wins - £91!!! 2010 wins in Oz $ 6170.... wins 2011 aprox $2000
MFIT - number 37. Reduce my mortgage from £63,500 to £48,000. now at 54,000...0 -
Hmm, old thread but I'll post anyway.
I have 4 accounts:
2x Bank of Scotland Expresscash
1x Clydesdale Bank..... something .....
1x National Savings Investment Account.
Going to open a Nationwide FlexAccount once I'm 16 if I get approved  and perhaps put the NS money somewhere else.0
