Condensing Tumble Dryers - Recommendations

Our condensing tumble dryer seems to be coming to the end of its life. It seems that more water ends up on the walls than is in the water container!
Can someone recommend an inexpensive condensing dryer that wont cause the room to steam up to much. I was looking to spend around £200 - £250.

I would recommend this one at £199.99 (on offer) and collect from the store. They are not that heavy.

Its a Zanussi item, and the water tray collects in the bottom. It is very very quiet and makes a musical beep when its finished. Could be annoying if you dont acknowledge it, as it keeps beeping every few mins to remind you.
I recommend the dryer with the water tray at the bottom, as we have a Hotpoint CTD00 which is a complete nightmare. Comet engineer recently written it off, and have to take delivery of a replacement item which looks the same. The water condenses in the bottom, and is pumped up too the top to be caught in a tray. If the dryer is used on low heat, its not as good and water remains in the bottom. Overnight it pools in the bottom, and upon selection to On. It blew the water on the heater. This one scored 4.5/10 once we found out.
Though, i would recommend the Zanussi above. Very quiet, we purchased it for my mother for christmas (mum scrimps and scrapes to make do), and its still running ok even though we purchased the extra 3 yr cover. We actually wished we bought this one.0 -
Are you sure the condenser section is cleaned out before you go replacing it?
Could be a start you need to flush the condenser part through with the shower hose to flush any fluff out.
OUrs worked great after doing this as it used to take forever to dry.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
Helloo
We have a Beko dryer. Does the job fine and didnt cost a lot to buy. I had a choice between a hotpoint and the beko (in my budget) and when I examined the condenser units in both makes, the hotpoint one had excessive glue holding all the bits together and had a smaller tray in which the water was collected. The Beko one was actually better - although it was cheaper!

Yeah, I've checked that already. Our dryer is getting on a bit, my parents gave it to me, it must be 10 or 12 years old - it doesn't owe me anything.0 -
Bosch - no condensation from ours. A load takes about 45 minutes.0

Hi
Miele is the make to go for if you can afford it. If not then Siemens/Bosch.
You should be able to get this one for around £600.
Good luck

A little over the price of the OP.0 -

I know - but I couldn't recommend one for that kind of money!0 -
A little over budget, but I've had one of these for years and has been faultless. Never had condensation. Water collects in a slide out container. Has built in sensors so will stop when clothes are dry.
Bosch dryer
Well worth spending just that little bit more. IMHO!"...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -
avoid hotpoint they are terrible, just replaced our condensing one with a vented Zanussi and its excellent, drys no problem where as the hotpoint never did. if you have quidco try dixons cash back is better than currys normally.0
