Just do an immediate chargeback via your credit card. Once they realise they are not getting your money they will collect them.
  • Hi

I only paid the deposit about £150 on my credit card and rest on debit card. Phoned bank who said the only way would be to stop my debit card to try stop they payment(since checking my account the money has gone out to DFS despite bank saying it hadn't so cancelling my card was a utter waste of time)

Spoke to the credit card department who are sending me a form out to fill in-do I put details of the entire amount for the sofas? or do I have to claim the deposit from credit card and the rest from my bank (the credit card is with my bank). Guess I would send the a copy of the invoice and letter details who said what and when. Is this enough???

    Thank you

You are covered for the whole aamount via your CC if you paid over £100 by CC. I suppose they will do some kind of adjustment with the bank.

Me too.. should be here by sunday... i'm dreading it now.. ill be making sure my husband is home and I shall inspect them inside out before i sign anything...
Lets hope they dont keep up their word and deliver before xmas...
  • DFS are full of ploys to avoid taking responsibility, the order at one store, delveir from another is a classic as they pass you between them and say the other is responsible.
They also rely on customers now knowing about SOGA and their rights (unfortuanlty a lot of customers don't!)

Personally I would claim back via CC, write to DFS (recorded) saying that the sofas are outside covered in a tarpaulin, come and get them. If you keep them inside and use them they might try and turn round and say that as you have been using them you have accepted them.

I wont touch DFS with a barge pole now, Id rather go buy some cheap tat from Ikea whilst I save up and buy a quality sofa from a reputable retailer.
    Good luck.
  • I feel for you JessandJon, we are currently also having a hard time dealing with DFS. My partner thought he would buy us a new sofa (on finance) and it was 2 days later when i asked him about the size, he told me he hadn't measured it! We had a quick measure up and realised there was no chance it was going to fit. As soon as we realised this we called to cancel the sofa, i was told it was cancelled and we could order a smaller one.
We ordered the smaller one but the credit was refused against it. We are now being told the original sofa has been made and we cannot cancel it! I phoned to speak to the manager last night, he wasn't in so i spoke to someone who told me they will listen to my calls as no-one will of told me the original sofa was cancelled. I requested a call back from the manager today (hasn't happened).
I'm at a loss, what else can i do? I've tried to be honest with them and they will not budge surely they cannot get away with this??
  • Hi

    Just to update:-

After 25 phone calls, 9 hours sat at home waiting for people to examine the sofa and a 4 page letter, advice from consumer direct
DFS have taken their sofa back and returned the full purchase price:T

Although I am astonished at the amount of calls I had to make to get anywhere, the way I was spoken to absolutely astounded me at times.

So as I no longer have anywhere sit, anyone got any recommendations of places to buy from.

Have had a look at CSL and Furniture World. Which should I go for. I never ever ever want to go through such a horrendous experience again over a flipping sofa

Katie Price buys her furniture from Furniture Village. Not sure if this is a recommendation or not ;)
Anyways, have a look at M&S website, reasonably priced and they often have offers and there may be an M&S near you that does furniture.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Don't go to CSL trust me! We had 6 different sofa's from them and in the end we have gone somewhere else. CSL are as bad if not worse than DFS, I won't lie about it I promise.
