We have on the news today of another young child in Liverpool killed by what's being referred to as the family pet
Everytime this happens and there's a public outcry against dangerous dogs you get the same thing when there are hints to restrict the ownership of these animals, ....... 'Oh no not my dog, he's friendly, well he's never done anything like that before'.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

The dog you refer to is believed to be a pit or american bull dog, not a staffie, so I do not see how this is in any way relevant to this thread about a staffie owner asking for training advice?C_Mababejive wrote: »Ive been assured that I'm..."handsome" and "well endowed"..what more could i want !;)
Well, it is nice of your mum to say that - but as I said earlier why not post a photo so we can judge for ourselves!?0 -

I don't think they've said yet what sort of dog killed the little boy, although i think it will very probably be a pit bull type, however all dogs can bite and can suddenly turn, so do need training especially around children
The thing that stood out to me in the OP was,
She's a lovely dog and doesn't have a nasty bone in her body'
How many times after a dog attack have we heard those very words?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

So because someone says their dog is lovely, they must be wrong? Some will misjudge their dogs temprement, but I think they are a minority. In news reports I have read about the dog that attacked the little boy, it snarled at people and neighbours were very wary of it...
Of course all dogs can bite, and dogs and kids should bever be left alone unsupervised, whatever the breed...0 -
A lot of people snarl at people as well.
I think by enlarge most dogs are well behaved, much more so than their owners.
Good owners must cringe more than anyone when they hear of attacks, they know what will be said.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Im sorry, and yes these dog attack stories are terrible tragedies, but my goodness, isnt it always the same sort of set up? - absent parents and Granny or 5 year old looking after a baby/a party of yobs/dog used for "protection"/ tied up in the garden for months at a time or in one case, on a flat roof of a pub? And this attack was apparently in the early hours of the morning - what was the granny doing allowing a child to be up at that time?
As I said, very tragic, and there must be good dog owners whose dogs bite, but lets hear the full story first.0 -

Well, thanks for all of your training advice! The dog in question was the product of a houshold used for the breeding of illegal dogs. Do you also brand all humans the same when one goes on a killing spree?
